Why is it that whenever I see "Skyteam" and "enhance" in the same sentence I get nervous before reading on?

It just claimed there are no skyteam flights to PPT, and if you do what it recommends to "minimize the chance of breaking rules" (just give it a list of cities) you can't seem to get any feedback over what route it is coming up with, just a notification that you're breaking a rule. Makes it tough to tweak things!

I thought the same thing last night...we know DL and "enhancements" all too well! ;)

    Another great 'enhancement' eh.

    Seems awfully buggy to me.

I just wonder: how many people plan this kind of trips and need this kind of tool?

On top of that, I'd wonder how many of *those* people are working with a travel agent on a lot of the legwork.

There's certainly a demand for the product, people with enough time + money to get value out of maximizing RTW itineraries. I couldn't say the first thing about the size of that market. There are also destinations that can be cheaper or similar in price to visit with a RTW fare than a roundtrip fare, but for those cases, the tool is really useful only if you want to tag an extra destination on and want to explore options.

It's also a nice marketing tool for Skyteam to use to illustrate all of the different places you can fly on the alliance, and get people playing around with different destinations that they'd visit with discretionary dollars/miles. Perhaps more useful in that role than as an RTW planner.

When I've done RTWs with an outstanding travel agent, it still helped to have some idea of the rules and possibilities, as well as knowing what questions to ask.
