    Hello,

If I want a roundtrip award with a stop-over on the way back Award CLT - MSP - ANC (Destination) - MSP - MCI - ATL - CLT - will this be a valid 25k award ticket routing (assuming "low" is available)?

    Best regards,

    Beofotch

I'm assuming you're aiming for MCI to be your stopover. The DL routing rules for CLT-ANC don't allow for a connection in MCI, so I think you're out of luck on that.

You could probably get a stopover in ATL, maybe MEM. Could you then purchase a cheap RT to/from MCI?

I would call to ask. YMMV.

    Per https://www.delta.com/skymiles/about_skymiles/membership_guide_program/award_travel_rules/index.jsp

    Stopovers

One stopover is allowed per Award. Round-the-World Awards allow a maximum of three stopovers per continent, not to exceed 6.
    Routing

Routing restrictions apply for Award Travel. Valid routings vary based on the operating carriers of the Award Ticket. Any exceptions or variations to these routings may require additional mileage for the award.

Domestic awards do not have to follow routing rules other than a max of 2 connections.

So the max of 2 connections; is that between a destination and a stopover or is that between destination to return airport. Assuming all is available in low in economy (big assumption; i know) - then are both A) and B) below a valid routing?

    A)
CLT - MSP - ANC (dest) - MSP - MCI (stopover) - ATL

    B)
CLT - MSP - ANC (dest) - MSP - MCI (stopover) - ATL - CLT

The rules when it comes to domestic award tickets are a bit of a mystery. Have you tried calling? I'm skeptical that, even with relaxed award routing rules, you'll be able to persuade them to route you via MCI and get a stopover there.
