The planes will be a little lighter if Skymall magazines don't fill the seat pockets on the airplane. The company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. How will we whittle away our flying hours after consuming the ubiquitous airline magazine. Who will supply the hot dog and bun toaster, as well as the garden gnome homage to Lord of the rings (C'mon, who hasn't thought about having Legolas and Gandalf greeting your guests and a dwarf and hobbit guarding the garden! :) )

A friend owns Design Toscano, long time Skymall regular- the garden gnomes, giant sasquatches, and Victorian console tables are theirs. I'll have to ask him some time about how this will impact his business. I'm guessing it will be a significant negative business on all the advertisers; they wouldn't spend the money to be in Skymall if it didn't give a good return.

On longer flights, the skymall catalog always gets tossed into the overhead bin to free up legroom and storage space.

Same here, along with the inflight magazine and duty free catalog. Can add up to a good 1/2" of extra knee room.

Removed from all the AA flights I was on Monday. Hoping to snatch a copy or six as collector items.

Apparently others had the same idea.

I wonder if the catalogs are already on e-bay?
