Today I received this email from DL.com. Finally there is a SkyClub in PHL. Yeah!!
Interesting that the e-mail doesn't mention complimentary beer, wine and cocktails. I believe there has been some consternation on other Frequent Traveler sites about the fact that they are "charging" $1 each after the 1st beverage.
Since when has SC been charging for drinks?
this is what it says online at dl.com:
I don't like it, but they could argue that the first one is complimentary, which doesn't necessarily mean limitless.
I got the same email, but mine said:
It has opened just in time for my trip up there next week!
Sitting in the PHL club now. There is a sign by the alcohol that states
That takes the glow off the new SC quite quickly. Is it only PA, as implied by the sign you quote? I hope so.
Keep in mind the service desk can't see the drink bar. Plus it never says how big your first drink is!
Ah, solutions! I like that.
Is this a self-serve bar or a bartender bar?
Looks life a self serve bar on the website.
Does anyone have any pictures of the new club?
Self serve. At least they didn't mess this one up like MSP
If the bar is self serve, how would the "service desk" know if and how many alcoholic beverages you poured for yourself? Sounds really stupid.
Do other PA lounges have this $1 charge for "complimentary adult" beverages?
I don't recall ever having seen this before, but I'm not sure when I was last in a lounge in PA, which does traditionally have some strange and tough laws regarding alcohol.
Some states forbid two-for-one alcoholic drinks or "women drink free" days.
US in PIT and PHL do have this "local charm" as well.
Hi all - thanks for the information about this new club. Do you know if access to the Delta Sky Club is complimentary for domestic First Class passengers travelling PHL-ATL-LAS or is it only for Business Elite/International First Class customers? Thanks so much for the information!
As with all Sky Clubs, domestic FC does not provide you access. Only International.
Hi, and welcome to MP. As USAF-Pride has said, a DL FC boarding pass isn't enough, although any same day DL boarding pass plus a regular (not DL branded) AmEx Plat charge card does. Unfortunately the SCs are no longer part of Priority Pass.
You can purchase discounted SC access for $25 with any DL AmEx card, although it's complimentary with the Reserve card. A SC day pass purchased on line is $50, or $90 for a thirty-day pass. See the DL website for details. You can sometimes find SC passes offered for free or a minor trade by individuals and outfits like GroupOn sometimes feature discounted passes also, although be careful about the distinction between one-time access and a day pass.
Good new for the folks flying out of PHL! Now if DL would reopen the PHX club, after they resolve what ever environmental issues as noted on the notice taped to the door.
I'll be there next Friday morning, if anyone wants my drink just let me know!
Thanks so much everyone for the information regarding my question above - it's much appreciated! Have a great day!
Welcome to MP. Have you met BondAir007 yet? He sometimes spends time in the DL forum.
As does the AA Admiral's Club (in case you are travelling international)..."State law requires the Philadelphia lounge to collect a minimum of $1.00 for each alcoholic beverage served." (from http://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/airportAmenities/AdmiralsClub.jsp)
So long as it is self serve, it the bar "serving" you? Does this get enforced? It does sound like a local PA thing. Is the new club still "underground"?
