I probably wouldn't have gone to Phi Phi had I not seen the Beach. Although it was a bit cliche for a while to do the "Beach" - it's truly a killer spot.

I went to Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic because I saw The Last Holiday (2006). I had not heard about the town before, but the scenery in the movie was so beautiful, that I put it on my short list.

"The Beach" made me really want to visit Asia and Thailand. Unfortunately, I still haven't made it to Thailand.

It's not a movie, but the Amazing Race has inspired me to visit a few places.

My first visit to Phuket was just after monsoon season. Once I got to Phi Phi (the big island) I had to wait until I could find someone willing to take several of us to Phi Phi (small - "the Beach") and it was quite the boat ride. I spent several months prior to that on a small sailboat and even I was freaked out. Anyway, they couldn't get anywhere near the Bay entrance, so we swam to a hole in the cliff, climbed through, and walked through the island to get to the Bay. It felt exactly like the movie -- we approached the Bay from within the island. It was just 4 of us on the beach - we were the only ones there. It was awesome.

The Tourist really re-kindled my desire to re-visit Venice.
The International for Istanbul (face it, the entire movie is architecture pr0n)
The current Mission Impossible for Dubai
Push for Hong Kong -- it's not the world's best movie, but I've rarely seen a movie that feels more steeped in its locations. My husband grew up in Hong Kong, and he had a big grin on his face before the first HK scene ended.

+1 for a bunch of the ones mentioned.

And for all its faults (and there are plenty), Jumper should be able to make someone get up and go for a trip somewhere. :)

It's difficult for me not to like this film as the book was written by one of my writing mentors. You're right, the film really had some great locations.

The Lord of the Rings really makes me want to visit New Zealand.

And The Terminal is still one of my favorite airport movies of all time (along with Airplane! and Up in the Air).

I first saw The Terminal on a flight. Fortunately, it was a domestic flight.

That movie almost makes me NOT want to go to Tokyo, or any large asian city, for that matter! :)

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Petra, Jordan

First time I had heard of Petra was from this movie. The whole time that I was planning the trip, we kept saying that I was going to the place that Indy went.

I went to Astoria, OR because it looked cute in Kindergarten Cop and we had extra time to kill during a visit to Seattle.

Does going to Roslyn, WA because of Northern Exposure and to Snoqualmie Falls because of Twin Peaks count? Do I get bonus points for stumbling upon the filming of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me?
