Search for "serviced apartments". There should be many through the city. (I particularly dont have experience with them...but its very common in that side of the world).
There are a number of serviced apartments that advertise regularly in the Straits Times (Singapore newspaper, in English of course). Some of these are luxurious/expensive and located near Orchard Road. Some newer big apartment buildings seem to offer a few serviced units. I can't recall noticing any extended stay western chain hotels, but there are some that seem to be local chains, in about the three star range. Some are within a few blocks of the art museum but I don't remember any names.
