|| Singapore shrouded in fire smog ||
My MIL, BIL and SIL picked a perfect time to come visit us then. wow.
Singapore smog from Indonesia fire 'could last weeks'
Man that's nasty
Reminds me of the Santa Ana fires in 2003.
Experienced the smoke a few years ago. Not pleasant.
What sucks, at least for my cousin out there, she still has to work...at the Zoo. She is pissed. Everything that takes place outdoors has been stopped; including construction, which if you know how it is set up - "cheap labor", time constraints, etc...is rare, but the right thing to do. So, that is why she is not happy.
Are there many visitors now at the Zoo in such conditions? Does your cousin work inside or outside with the animals or more like admin in an office?
I'm glad to hear they think "people first" before their construction sites which maybe will drive costs up, due to timing issues.
Singapore haze hits record high from Indonesia fires
I can't imagine there are many if any visitors except maybe die hard types. She does both office and outside. The outside portion is running events at the Zoo.
Here is a link to a AFP article about the animals being okay and adapting and visitors have dipped slightly...i.e. it is still open. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/06/20/smog-crisis-creates-apocalyptic-conditions-in-singapore/
Thanks for the update, I now hope as the days go by that the pollution situation will get lighter and positive news will eventually emerge out of Singapore, having said that, a lot depends on Indonesia too. It's important that people visiting the region will be informed and are prepared for now.
Haze from Indonesia continues to shroud Malaysia
very dramatic change!
I was there last week, 50 odd miles in the air before landing the aircraft began to smell like it was on fire.. initial reaction from the pax were funny to say the least.. once they realized that it was the smell of "wild"(cough cough) fires they got used to it.. 2 days later the haze cleared for a day then back again. N95 masks were selling for premium!
