    I was in Y last month on a SIN-CGK flight and was pleasantly surprised to see both fruit and dessert on the meal tray, usually it will be fruit only. Based on this, I was expecting to see a starter on the return flight, but nope, it was dessert only.

    On an early morning SIN-BKK flight last week, the meal tray also had both fruit and dessert and the return flight had both starter and dessert! IIRC the starter has been cut on BKK flights since about 4-5 years ago, so it was a pleasant surprise to see it returned.

    But on the BKK-SIN flight, I had a FSS and CSS working on my aisle who were clearly on a bad day. They didn't look like they wanted to be there and started to pack up very early, refusing to serve hot drinks about 45 minutes before landing saying that they had to prepare for arrival. This was when the FS and FSS on the other aisle were still diligently serving hot drinks to the pax there. Not impressed.

    I've heard something of the kind from one other MPer with the SIN-BKK return. Hmm... Is this the new Singapore Airlines? They're not treating their FAs right possibly...

    I've been dying when trying to book C/F on SIA cuz it's almost impossible, except when the flight is at night when you'd sleep through the trip and not really enjoy the C/F goodies! Hope this changes when I book my Dec trip.

    Also, I can't book any awards flight with SIA all the way to PEN via Star Alliance partners (eg. United) but I can do that on SIA site! The itinerary always fly send me to BKK first then PEN rather than PEN from SIN. Silly!

    I hope what I experienced was an exception rather than the norm. On the outbound flight SIN-BKK, the FSS on my aisle was very cheerful and full of smiles, and there also was an FSS from J helping out with the tray collection and she was also very friendly.

    Following up to my OP, I sent my observations on the CSS and the FSS on my BKK-SIN flight through their website feedback form. I was only expecting a standard reply but I thought that they should know that I was left disappointed on that flight.

    Much to my surprise, I received a phone call from a Customer Affairs staff a few days after I sent the feedback form. He said that he wished to learn more about the incident and to apologize personally about the shortcomings in service. Again, I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe given the situation that they are in now, they start to care about their customers more. :)

    SQ's in that boat right now, they're already halfway sinking..

    I am not surprised. I have flown CX more to SE Asia than SQ....I like the new J seat on CX a little better.

    I would agree...but just get me a few on the ground, some food and keep the bubbly going...I am ready for bed then!! :)

    Haha, truth be told, I hate those seats anyways.. But the crew always treats me nice.. I still have mixed feelings about CX J, but I'll be flying CX F hopefully again, next year..

    Meals and service wise, the gap between CX F & J is much greater than between SQ R/F & J.

    Yeah..those SQ J seats are a real PITA....getting out....etc...nice and wide...but...sleeping diagonally is a little challenging...but with two pillows....I can make it work!! :)
