Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines begin the first stage of a new codeshare partnership today.

Under the deal passengers on either carrier are able to use lounges for both airlines and Singapore Airlines customers can now fly directly to a wide variety of domestic Australian destinations on just one ticket. The domestic portions are operated by Virgin Australia and combined itineraries include meals and entertainment for the entire journey.

SIA’s commercial VP Mak Swee Wah called the program a ‘landmark agreement’ and said that from Monday forward that Singapore Airlines’ passengers could take advantage of the scheme’s initial benefits.
