Finding the location of a quoted post in a long thread

If you are in a long thread and want to find the location of a quoted post (e.g. if you just replied to it and want to keep on reading from when you left off, just click on the little arrow to the right of the "Handle said:" at the top of the quote box

    Move to another forum quickly

So, you’re probably an expert at using the cookie crumbs by now. Sometimes it’s even faster to use the quick navigation toolbar which you can find with the NE facing "compass" below the search button and at the very bottom of any thread.

Finding out more about a member

Click on their avatar, you know the picture to the left of their post
    <--------------------
    there ;)

That will take you to a snapshot of their profile. You can then choose to go to the detailed "profile page," "start a conversation," or "follow them."

Well put together. Add the navigation bar at the bottom . . . that arrow scroll to the top is so much fun.

In the list of thread in any forum, each thread is marked with an icon of the OP (that means Original Poster, the person who started the thread).

If you have posted in the thread, and if you have an avatar, a smaller icon of your avatar will be superimposed over the OP's avatar.

Also, in this graphic, note the blue dot between the avatars and the thread title. Click that dot or the thread title to go to the first post which you haven't yet read; that's a nice place-keeper.

It's actually been updated so that the thread title takes you to the first unread post now too so you no longer need to fiddle to click the dot (feedback in the beta forum thread indicated that it was especially hard on mobile devices) ;)

You can sort the thread display by any of the header criteria. The active sort method has a little arrow next to the word (title, start date, replies, etc).
Click on the header to sort by that category. Click a second time to reverse the sort order. The direction of the arrow, up or down, indicates whether it is sorted A-Z or Z-A, newest to oldest or oldest to newest, etc.

When you display the forums, you'll notice a small arrow to the right. You can click that to display or collapse the view of subforums. If you have cookies enabled it should remember your selection, so that the next time you open it those that don't interest you remain collapsed, those you want open will again be open.

When viewing the forum list, you'll see a listing of the number of sub-forums. Hover your mouse over that and a full list of the sub-forums will pop up.

How to change thread sort order defaults

By default, threads are sorted based on the date/time of the last post. However, you can set other criteria (e.g., most likes for the first message, number of views, number of replies, alphabetical by title, and thread creation time). And, for each of these, you can sort it in ascending or descending order. After making your selections, click on set options and enjoy your new perspective!

The criteria can be changed at the bottom of a thread list - scroll down any thread listing until you see the below:

I translated your post into German and then tried to get back to English. Looks like it translated it from German back to English. (Or, more appropriately: It has from German back to English it translated. :p)

Neat functionality, though, especially for a global audience like ours! [Insert thumbs-up emoticon]
