A passenger on board an EasyJet flight was shocked to see an airport worker applying tape to the engine shell moments before take-off, according to the MailOnline Travel.

The passenger snapped a picture after spotting the worker applying the tape over a joint in the turbine casing.

The image has been widely shared on the Internet, most recently on Reddit.

The man was pictured in a fluorescent vest measuring up a line of tape to circle around the top of the engine.

Now, that's what we don't want to see before take-off.

I fail to see the problem. He's clearly wearing sterile surgical gloves.

Looks like a cosmetic, rather than a structural patch.

Speed tape to hold the engine cover on? Seems odd to me.

Actually, when I saw the link on the sidebar, it said "Shocking photo shows jet engine...." which I was sure would be completed by "... posing behind flight attendant." :D
