My understanding was that for 2011, the United rules were still in place as far as calculating your Lifetime Flight Miles. And that mean, only United/United Express metal, BIS miles. No partner miles.

Now, there was talk about doing a one time re-calculation on 12/31/2011 which would use "CO-math" to recalculate.

So I was surprised to see that the mileage from a UA flight (CO metal) was included in LFM calculations.

Did the rules change once again?

Those miles are going to be included at some point one way or another. Does it really matter too much if they are included now versus during the one-time "fix" at the end of this year??

And maybe we're lucky and they include it twice :)

It does matter if you are going to hit MM status before the end of 2011. Will the 2011 MM rules apply or the 2012?

Why not? Everything else has been tilted towards CO programs. Let's make CO miles count 2x.

When I log into My Mileage Plus page, I see the CO flight was credited to my LFM.

Most likely that's because all CO flights have a UA flightnumber as well, so the UA backend will treat it as a UA flight. Nothing confirmed, but given how all those numbers are being aligned, this might very well be a consequence of that.
