I thought this was kind of cool. The Sheraton New Orleans is big on Twitter/Facebook, but thought this was a good way to start off this thread.

Hmmm... just got back from a long weekend of hotel hopping with my 3-year-old twins, and one of their favorite discoveries was being able to push the up or down button on the elevator! This new system at the Sheraton New Orleans sure sets that bar higher!

    Cheers,

How will this elevator handle your kids* pressing random numbers? Is there an obvious way to cancel a requested floor?

    * Nothing against your kids, of course.

  4. Excellent question! In that respect, the new system is much like a traditional elevator system. Once a floor number is entered, you are not able to cancel the request. Just like when you press the wrong floor button in a traditional elevator, or if someone's children press random numbers :), there is no option to cancel the requests.

The bottom line: Sure, let the kids have fun and enter in your floor number! But keep an eye on them so that they don't keep pressing buttons and end up sending you on a floor by floor scenic tour of the hotel.

Found this an interesting innovation when I experienced it first hand last month. Only problem is it's yet one more set of numbers to memorize!
