I will be in Shanghai in December for a little over 24 hours and want to make the most of my time there. I have previously stayed at the Le Royal Meridien Shanghai which was quite nice and centrally located to Nanjing Street and some nice museums.

My question to the forum is... would it be advantageous or worthwhile to stay on the other side of the river near Lujiazui? Are there sights to see on that side as well? It seems as though that is where all of pictures of Shanghai are on most of the travel sites. Most of what I have been able to find centers around the financial center.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Watching this thread. We're going to take advantage of the 72 hour no-visa stay next year.

I haven't visited regularly but for a tourist I believe it's better to be based on the Puxi side instead of Lujiazui. Lujiazui is business and malls and Puxi is the historical centre.
