    All,

Have a big of a crazy schedule coming up and as I've never flown to India (DEL or BLR) i wanted to ask for help.

    Few questions:
    1. What is the best way to do PEK-DEL? I can see only non-stop from Air China which i have never flown. OK? better options? rather do longer 1-stop with another airline?

    2. Best option to fly home BLR-SFO? United through FRA? Cathay (Never flown with them) through HK? as long as it S* I'm ok with any recommendation from people who have done this before.

    Thanks in advance!

Is this an award ticket? Paid? What class of travel are you looking at?

    Will earn UA PQM's:
    BLR-FRA-SFO (LH/UA)
    BLR-FRA-ZRH-SFO (LH/LX)
(there can be more 2-stop combos with Star Alliance)

    will not earn UA PQM's:
    BLR-DXB-SFO on EK
    BLR-HKG-SFO on CX

    Thanks snod.
I'm looking at the BLR-FRA-SFO and seems the FRA-SFO by united has no lie-flats in business which is a deal breaker for me. Am I seeing this wrong?

That has to be wrong... the B744 on UA is all lie flat and the new IPTE on the B772 is all lie flat in Business Class although there are still some B772s with the old slanted barcalounger product but they don't schedule them on SFO/FRA usually.

usually being the key word. I got stuck in one a few months ago. Although, it is a daytime flight, and you're not sleeping during it, so I actually find the old seat more comfortable.

As for PEK-BLR Staralliance.com is your friend.

It looks like there are only two routings:
    Air China direct
BKK connection (that could be Air China to BKK and then TG (Thai) to BLR; or TG for both flights)

I would personally take the TG options because their business class is much nicer than Air China's.

Cathay is not in *A so nothing earned there unless you want a fantastic ride. They have one of the best business class products around.

Thanks TravelerRob - I'm soooo tempted to give up the miles just to try Cathay once....
hard for a FF :) although i did the AA match but never used it because SFO routes are not good enough.
    tempted....

on PEK-BLR - I hate stopovers and probably going to do Air China Direct..hope i wont regret it but how bad can it be? :)

one other question (which might be subjective, but welcome your thoughts):
I see two options from BLR-SFO with LH on Business:
    BLR-FRA 747-800, FRA-SFO A380, 1.5 hours layover (too short? no time for rest, no 180 lie-flat in A380 I read)
BLR-FRA 747-700,FRA-SFO 747-400, 5.5 hours layover (a bit too much..., nice lie flat on both rides)

Anyone has preferences based on experience?

    Thanks

For a different routing into DEL - you could fly PEK-HGH-DEL, with the HGH-DEL leg on Ethiopian. You earn star alliance miles and it's a very different than your usual routings.

BLR-SFO. You could do on SQ, BLR-SIN-ICN-SFO.

Another way, is to take a local indian carrier from BLR-BOM (mumbai), then connect to the ANA business jet 737 to Tokyo. From there you could take a UA 747 or ANA 773 across to SFO, or backtrack to ICN and take SQ.
