    I received a letter today from Amex. Select and Pay later with an APR of about 15%. I am enrolled in Autopay and do not want to carry a balance. There is an incentive of 5000 MR points for signing up. Can I sign up for the bonus points and still continue with autopay of the full balance.

    I got this offer a long time ago. I signed up, got the bonus points, but still pay off the card before any interest accumulates.

    Yes. I did so.
    And there are threads on FT in which other people report doing the same - taking the bonus points and continuing to pay in full each month.

    I have taken advantage of this "bonus" too. Each month my statement shows charges which fall into the Select and Pay category. Each month everything is autopaid.

    Was afraid to sign up for this promo after reading some reports long time ago on FT that people got a Financial Review. However, I see from this thread that everybody is happy with this bonus promo. I might need to find that offer letter :eek:

    I signed up through a link posted here on MP. They set me up with it. No problem. But no points either. After waiting the 8 weeks, I asked for the points and was told the offer was not ment for me.

    Can you cancel this option and then wait till you get a personalized offer?

    I got this years ago, but only got a small bonus, and rarely carry and balance. That was question too. Can I cancel this option and maybe next year get an offer to sign up again, I really don't need the option to carry a balance I have many other cards I could do that with. Anybody have luck doing this?

    I don't even qualify to sign up for the program, any idea why? I guess I could just call CS....but just curious as to all of your thoughts.

    amazzajr;

    First, welcome to MP. We look forward to your contributions and seeing your posts.

    As for the "pay later" option with AMEX, I don't qualify either. Have no idea why. Don't think we can call or do anything to get qualified.

    Don't worry, there will be more promotions out there.

    This option is triggered if you have a single charge of $100 or more in your statement. I have AMEX on Autopay and noticed that the trigger also extends the payment due date by 10 days from the usual 15 days from statement end date. So you get additional free float.

    See the sample statement here

    With Amex Platinum you always have till the end of your statement date to pay your balance. So extra 10 days probably is till then end of your statement.

    I believe the deadline for Amex PRG is 15 days from the statement end-date. The sample statement I linked in my previous post shows that the deadline becomes 25 days if you trigger the extended payment option.
