An interesting article on the Consumerist site from one of their writers which encountered the "you're all OK for PreCheck" phenomenon at LAS last week.

All of the sudden the supervisor decided that his line and the one next to it all of the sudden qualified for expedited screening.

LAS does this a lot. Last time I wasn't flying with a TSA Pre eligible Airline and was lucky enough to be selected.

The Pre line was empty and the normal line was at least a 30 min wait. Officer walked in front me and went "everyone starting from here to the end, follow me" and went straight to the Pre line.

So far I've only seen this happen at LAS.

DEN as well. It furthers my theory that soon everyone will be pre-check and only the "random" people will be profiled (I mean selected, profiling isn't legal), which IMO is the correct way to do security.

Completely agree, everyone should be screened like the pre 9/11 days. I wonder if they'll ever get back to this? Probably not.

The only thing I dread is when something else happens, the TSA will collectively curl up in the fetal position and remove anything close to pre-check and everything goes back to 9/14/2011 (or whatever the first day was when travel started again).

By labeling a random, anonymous crowd as safe that TSO is either the greatest BDO ever (with a brief look he could determine that the entire line of people were non terrorists), or he is acknowledging that the screening they do is completely useless and irrelevant.

I vote the latter - "screening is completely useless and irrelevant"

Happy squeeze super strawberry yogurt? That is clearly a weapon of mass destruction.
