Having stayed at the W last month and now at the Westin, I should say that the W is my favorite property in Seattle. The Westin is older and a little longer in the tooth, with what seems like 3 entrances on all different sides of the building, making it unclear where to enter from. In addition, the FD last night at the Westin didn't acknowledge my status at all or present any options for my gold choice, etc. There wasn't hot water this morning, which was unfortunate.

Also, the neighborhood around the W is much better. Being next to monorail tracks is not the sunny side of the street.

Seattle has some nice properties if you're open to non-SPG properties. The eastside has some pretty nice properties as well including boutiques.

The Fairmont Olympic can be a good value if booked through FHR (they run 3 nights for 2 specials during the year) or Virtuoso. I also like the location.

Across the street from the W.

IIRC the Sheraton next to the convention center has an interesting collection of Chihluly glass displayed in the lobby. I stayed here a while ago, but liked it for a big convention hotel.

Downtown Seattle has some interesting boutique properties too, like Hotel Ändra (which has a Tom Douglas restaurant on-site, and ones nearby as well), the Alexis, and the Sorrento (the Hunt Club there is a nice place for a romantic dinner).

Oh, and the Westin is much closer to those Tom Douglas restaurants like Lola, Palace Kitchen and Dahlia Lounge. ;)

Although not a SPG property, the Grand Hyatt near the Convention center area is always a great choice and has a very nice executive Grand club lounge!

The foreign soccer teams that have come into Seattle usually stay here (Chelsea, Barca, Brazil).

There's also the Hotel Max for another boutique.

And for Seattle folks needing a cheap stay/night, you should check out the SeattleCenter Sheraton 4 Pts. ;)
