The last eight days were a literal pain in the a$$ sitting in the very uncomfortable seats of the various Airbuses. The cushions are so thin and worn, they offer absolutely no comfort. I always pad them with a blanket. But on a flight from SFO to SAN I was pleasantly surprised when the A320 presented herself with blue leather seats, very well padded and quite comfortable. How come not more UA planes have these seats?

IIRC, the 320s that have the blue leather seats in E were the ex-TEDcraft.

I have never experienced TED, so I had no idea. Just based on the seat and the look of the aircraft, though. seems that I would not mind. Seems like a big improvement over the regular UA offerings.

TED itself was a terrible experiment in money loss for UA. The all coach experience just didn't fit with the image of a "world class airline" however the benefit from TED's death was they had to redo the interior of those aircraft and your rear was the benefit of that.

Be glad that you didn't! It was a disaster of a concept for UA. It was all all coach "low cost" configuration on the aircraft.

Yup, TED was UA's attempt at stealing business from southwest. Didn't work.

    "Haaave you met Ted?"

  7. They're better than CO's seats. Youch! [IMG]

And the nuttiest part of it all was how the UA brass repeatedly stated that they were happy with Ted's performance. Right up until they axed it.

You could almost say that Ted was legen ... wait for it ... dary.

The only thing to watch out for with the ex-TED aircraft is that they do not have closets.

    "United doesn't believe in closets."

I've never noticed a comfort difference between the cloth UA seats and the leather UA seats.

There are surely leather seats in some planes that are simply re-covered cloth seats.
