My only elite status is with United.

If I book a flight on say Expedia on US Airways, I can still earn United miles via the Star Alliance program (and get priority boarding etc). My question is, is there away to log in to a web site and choose my seat assignment (to include 'preferred' seating, using my elite status in Star Alliance? Or can I only do this if I have elite status with US Airways themselves?

If I choose my seats on Expedia, it lets me, but then I get an email five minutes later telling me I cannot assign myself a seat because it is preferred.

    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately Elite status on United doesn't get you preferred seating on US. That's a extra cost with US Airways. And generally other than the seats only being forward in the cabin on US, that's about all it is, no extra legroom.

You will get (if you are *G), priority boarding in Zone 1 and priority/free baggage, but that is about it.

Doesn't *A give priority check in (with business class and FC) to all *Golds?
