Folks, Senior VP of airport operations, Scott Dolan has resigned from United. It happened a couple of weeks back. He has been replaced by CO EWR Chief Jon Roitman.

Scott's bio just suddenly disappeared and United has not mentioned anything about it, so I wonder what actually happened.

My understanding is that he wasn't buying in to the new corporate culture and was asked to leave, similar to the CTO issues a few months back.

That's 100% scuttlebutt and gossip, but it is what I heard from my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend who heard it from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw some UA employees talking about it at 31 Flavors last night.

I was pleased to see Jon Roitman get the promotion, though.

I'm not really familiar with him (nor with EWR for that matter), but I seem to recall reading complaints about EWR not really treating premium customers all that well. Is that so, or am I mis-remembering?

That would be a CO-Specific thing not necessarily an EWR-Specific thing...

Leaving with dignity, when I finally decide to check-out of the mileage plus game, that's how I shall leave, my head held high and with dignity I shall depart.

Starting at only $59 per trip, you can now purchase Premier Dignity on the carrier of your choice.

The COurageous Leader insists upon ideological purity in the management cadres, and it's a change I like.

I think that's speculative, though you'll find complaints about the way CO handles HVCs at most airports, especially on these boards.

There are many other, dare I say, more important things that go into running a major hub operation than coddling premium customers! ;)

The two things aren't mutually exclusive, though, I'd think.

Dolan was SVP of airport operations. He had the same job at United before the merger.

Dolan was head of airport operations for an airline with the best on time statistic in north America for a long time now. And the way stuff is run at ORD these days, there sure is plenty of room for improvement so I'm sure he'll have his hands full :)

But his background was most definitely in running cargo operations prior to that. He worked at Polar and Atlas, two of the larger cargo operations in the USA. The job he was in is named "Senior Vice-President Airport Operations and Cargo" so it is responsible for both.

What is interesting is that, from the linked article above, it seems that the industry considered Continental to have stronger cargo operations yet they kept the PMUA guy. The PMCO guy, for obvious reasons, went out and found a new job and now they've got neither. Sucks for the company.

Yes, he has been in cargo most of his career, but I've met him a few times after 2007 and he was definitely integral in airport operations for United for the later years. I heard the same thing you did, btw.

Co coddles cheap fare elites rather than high value customers. You would think the cheap fare 1ks would be happy !! :D

I think the argument can be made that CO doesn't coddle anyone!

They need to stop coddlling their fa's though. They are not the best in the industry.

  25. Any idea why? I heard he was actually escorted from the premises by security
