In what has made an enjoyable morning even more so, I have just discovered that the Santiago AC offers champagne upon request. Probably some off-market brand, but it's not bad at all. Just an FYI for those of you that enjoy these kinds of things.

True champagne or a sparkling wine?

AA not knowing the difference is irritating. </soapbox>

I'm sure it's "cava" or "espumante" rather than actual champagne, but when you request it, they serve it in the back and bring it to your seat, so I didn't see the bottle.

If I had to "place bets" on what an AC might serve, my CL$ would be on Valdivieso. The good news is that Gato doesn't make an espumante  - at least not one that I'm familiar with!

zpaul, thanks for the laughs. I asked for the champagne in SCL AC and the ladies brought me a glass, all the while they were giggling. They had to ask one of the managers if it was okay. They were so sweet i didn't have the heart to ask to see the bottle. Someone else can do that.

They have also added 110v plugs in the back work area which i think are new since i was here two yeas ago. Bravo. (Yes, i have tons of adaptors and yes, 220v does seem to charge faster than 100v)

I think they have a bulk deal with Cooks myself. I am in BC to Copenhagen next week and I actually checked the liquor list and it says 'real' Champagne. If I arrive having slept well and feel refreshed it was real. If I arrive with a splitting headache then it's Cooks in a Champagne bottle. I'll keep you posted.

Not sure if I understand correctly...BC as in British Columbia? If so, you're really going out of your way to get to Copenhagen!
