I am having trouble understanding the difference between Saver Awards and Standard Awards.

Can anyone break it down for me?

Saver requires fewer miles, and availability is much more highly capacity controlled.

Basically Saver Awards are subject to capacity controls whereas Standard Awards are subject to last seat availability on the flights.

I have never used anything other than saver awards. They allow me to either fly twice as often or go first class for what a standard economy seat would cost me. If you think about it, they double the value of our miles.

this is silly. you should be thinking of saver levels as the normal miles price redemption. Standard redemptions are the ones for suckers or in an emergency/bind that need a ticket fast.
