Preferred preseating on SAS long haul flights

Effective 02DEC13, SAS offers preferred preseating in SAS Go on long haul flights.
Preferred seats are e.g. window and aisle seats in first secton of the GO cabin, as well as bulkhead and extra leg room seats.

Reservation can be made until check-in opens.
Charge: 300 DKK, NOK, SEK, 35 EUR, 45 USD per seat and segment.
Exceptions: EBP and EBG members, including passengers in same PNR, and passengers requesting BSCT with confirmed COT-seat.

A limited amount of seats per flight are defined as Preferred seats and available for purchase. All other seats are free of charge at time of reservation.
When flight opens for check-in, all unreserved seats, including Preferred seats, are free for all passengers in SAS Go.

Perhaps there should be charges for restroom usage, the air we breath, the order we get off the plane, tray table usage and of course, the overhead bins...I see it coming.

You will most likely see that economy class will get closer to a low carrier setup with more fees and reduced service and then C or F will be where they focus.

I was on SAS from IAD to Copenhagen in business-class. On a 340-300 AC. The service was good. It was Sept 2013.

There isn't anything really wrong with intercontinental flights except perhaps the hardware that they have decided to upgrade anyway.

Intra-Europe is another matter as there is no C and the Y product is quite bad. It takes you to your destination on time though and that's the selling point.

Hmmm, be careful what you wish for! :( It seems like that's all about to occur to "modern air travel"!

Just tried to get a flight ARN-CDG for next week on SK. ALL the seats are premium pay none available to SKG free both outward and return. Way around it is to get plus for about 150SEK more but it seems that from now on all the seats in SAS GO will be premium cost to select and you will just be left with whatever is not taken regardless of your EB level.
