Anyone have good San Jose dining recommendations? I'm pretty open as long as we're not talking vegan. Veggies are a necessary evil in my existence. :)

Too funny. I'm vegan and figured I'd pop into this thread on the off-chance you were looking for... :D

Sorry. Blame it on my mother, but vegetables and I just don't get along. :D

Depending on what kind of food you like, I think Le Papillon is a very good restaurant if you still need one up there.

If you are willing to drive a short distance to Los Gatos and happen to like fondue, La Fondue has one of the largest selections of fondue I have ever seen. I've eaten there twice and loved it both times. When my son was at UC Santa Cruz we drove up there just to get fondue.

"San Jose" is a big area, but since we're already talking about going as far as Le Papillon and Los Gatos... I was always fond of Armadillo Willy's babyback ribs when I was growing up. They're a small chain in Cupertino/Los Altos area. If you're already going that far, Chef Chu's in Los Altos has good Peking duck. For a steak dinner, Alexander's in Cupertino was one of my dad's favorite haunts before he moved.

I ate at the Armado Willy's outpost at HP Pavilion during a Sharks game. Not bad. By airport BBQ standards, outstanding.

Better than not getting along with your mother. There are vegan places in the world that might still be recommendable to someone in your situation. San Jose's vegan spots are mainly the gawdawful fake-meat places, several with religious groups behind them.
