    Hello.

Wondering about same day change on a J reward.... Ticketed LHR-YOW-YYZ all in J. LHR staff says same day change (after paying fee) to a LHR-YYZ would be in Y with standby to J. YYZ staff says no.... It is like a T+ change where it would be confirmed in J based on J availability with no relevance to Y space or standby list.

Anyone have ideas on correct policy? Inlaws are traveling and I don't want them to have to debate much when they get to LHR.

    Thanks

I'm not an expert in the AC system, but on most airlines, if you have a J award (FREE) ticket and want to change it, you get J if available (in the right inventory class, depending on the carrier) and if J is not available for you, there might be an option to take the new flight in coach.

If instead, you are using miles or other instruments to UPGRADE from coach to business class, you would be able to switch if your original coach booking class is available and then get the upgrade if upgrade inventory is available on the new flight, but there could be others ahead of you on the upgrade waiting list.
