In what can be best described as an absolutely batshit crazy policy Royal Jordanian will not allow electronics to be carried in the cabin on flights to the United States effective tomorrow. The carrier cites "US departments" as driving the new policy but no further details are available as yet.

Interesting security threat. Looking forward to hearing more...and hope it's a regional issue and not a global one.

Now hearing that 13 countries are affected by the electronics ban. Looks to be a play to implement something of a Muslim Ban by making it so that no one will fly.

This enrages me - as an American expatriate living in the Middle East, how am I supposed to get back stateside with my electronics? I don't want to connect in Europe and most US-based airlines don't fly anywhere near my location...if this extends to the ME3, I am screwed....

ETA: now RJ has deleted that tweet and/ or it is unabailable...huh?

RJ deleted the tweet. There are plenty of copies available online including from my post.

And 96 hours was the limit the airlines had to implement, not the duration of the ban.

Nope...it will be indefinite. The airlines have 96 hours to comply.

    You're screwed, buddy. Sorry. :(

Guess it's time to start that letter writing campaign to my elected officials in Congress...

    Hello all, first post.

In case anyone is still unware, the ban applies for flights originating in Amman, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Casablanca, Dubai, Doha, Istanbul, Jeddah, Kuwait City, and Riyadh.
