I was recently looking at options to travel to India. From my home area (the Pacifc Northwest) the great circle routes of
PDX - FRA - BOM (with maybe an SFO or ORD thrown in) vs
PDX - NRT - HAN - BOM (with HKG or ICN subbed for NRT)
work out to be almost the same distance.

Yet all my Star Alliance routing goes either through EWR or FRA. And the pricing certainly works in that favor.

I'd like some tips for "suggesting" Aisan rather than European routing when looking up fares.
    Advice?

Are you planning to pay for the tickets with money or miles? If the former, try booking through an Asian carrier.
