All airline food is bad, right? Not really, says a new survey by skyscanner.net, a flight comparison site that included 19 international airlines from all corners of the world in the study and ranked them according to the scores they received from passengers.

The study reveals that despite the stereotype of ‘all’ airline food being unpalatable, it is indeed possible to find a good meal set on the tray in front of you.

Interestingly, both Etihad and Emirates – leading UAE airlines – feature among the Top 5, with the top honours going to Turkish Airlines with a score of 86 per cent for its menu which includes such dishes as stuffed eggplant and walnut pear tart.

"According to Travel USA Today, there has been substantial number of airline deaths that have occurred out of eating airline food."

So far, my vote's for KLM, but then I can only eat the gluten-free meals. My domestic carrier of choice (UA) doesn't even offer those any more on domestic routes (even in J or F), so they get a zero from me.

If UA didn't make so much sense for my routes, I'd fly another carrier for that reason alone.

I haven't had a good meal in the air since Sabena went under. But the biggest culinary surprise for me in recent times is the new KLM business class offerings. It blows away all other intra-Europe options. Unless you count IST as Europe I guess.

If UA gets a 62, I think your ratings are askew. It looks sort of like wine ratings - you know, it really doesn't start at 0 or even 50 or 60.

I just flew BA (LHR-BLR) and chose the Asian Vegetarian option. As a Chef, I've got to tell you it was very tasty!

+1 for ANA. I was really impressed with their meals. It blew away SQ's in C.

Air India was excellent breakfast wise especially on a short haul flight JAI-BOM (564 miles) on the A321.

Yeah right. I'd like to see those "substantial numbers". Talk about sensationalism!
