It was on my reservation today but the FA still asked me what I wanted and I was lucky enough the last beef fillet. Beef wasn't that great but the polenta was quite tasty.

Even the test routes where hit or miss with whether FAs were informed about the pre-selected meals. Best to continue picking a seat based on FEBO until the kinks are worked out.

My trip this weekend is the first where I've been able to pre-select for every leg (4). I'll be curious to see how implementation goes. So far it's been pretty inconsistent out of DCA.

Probably. American's catering is usually pretty decent and sometimes (depending on choice) surprisingly good.

It's a nice option to have more frequently available though as David pointed out, best to stick with FEBO for now.

Yeah, I figure it will take a little time to integrate and to get all the bugs worked out.

I like the quality of most of the AA meals but I try to bring a snack or granola bars if it's something I don't like. But sometimes when you are doing mileage runs or in general have tight connections it's nice knowing that will be some kinda of meal service on the flight.

Flew a transcon a few days ago. I'd taken advantage of Reserve Your Entree, and when the FA came by to hand out menus, she made a point of telling me she knew I'd selected my entree already. She also mentioned that she loved the feature; it made her job easier and the passengers happier.

I've had several reroutes lately when my initial flight has gone mechanical. On two of these I had been schedule on Flagship flights so prebooked my meal. My reroutes took me down to DFW (ex-YYZ) so wonder what happened to those prebooked meals? Would they have been offered to other passengers or gone to crew? This must happen often but suppose it's not a major issue to have stalled the full network (NAmerica) roll-out of this service. I've got quite a few longhaul flights coming up so when I get back from Shanghai tomorrow will have to go through a start booking meals (in hopes my original itineraries remain intact!).

When you Reserve Your Entree, AA doesn't cater an extra meal for you, they just make sure that the ratio of entrees includes your choice. If you change flights, someone else may get stuck with the entree choice you made, but that's the worst of it.

Both the quiche and the strata have been pretty good. Better than the omelettes of old with the processed melted cheese filling.

I've had some decent stuff (more so in international of course but some domestic as well). The salmon salad was actually OK, and I'm usually afraid to order fish on a plane, since it's usually pretty nasty.

The steel cut oats and fruit are by far the best IMO.

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to get a Japanese meal on the way to NRT and it was much better then the western choice.

Remembered your post so when offered a choice for breakfast yesterday SFO-DFW I picked the quiche. Flavor was quite good, agree with DCtrAAveler that it's an improvement over the omelettes we've had. Asparagus was a nice touch, but I didn't care for the stuffed tomato (I only eat diced tomatoes with the mushy center part tossed far, far away from my plate).

One of the best I've had on AA is the Habanero Chipotle Chicken on outbound MIA flights. There is some heat on some of those chicken breasts!!!
