From this Wall Street Journal article, Republic is unwinding their 2009 decision to add mainline service and planning selling or spinning off what has been a money-losing Frontier operation and return to its original, and still profitable, business of providing feeder flights for major airlines.

Who's going to buy the pieces? Southwest was interested in Frontier, but is now busy digesting AirTran.

They may end up just being spun out again. What an expensive bet/experiment though...

Are they in better shape now than they were before the take-over by Republic?

Apparently the Republic CEO has trimmed costs, so theoretically Frontier is in better shape.

But they are competing with United/CO and Southwest out of DEN, so I don't think it is going to be "smooth air" for them going forward.

They still have cookies? I thought that went the same way as their wider seats and meal service with linen :D

They still have cookies. Hit-and-miss on whether they're warm.
