Report: ATC errors up 114 percent in Boston

    It appears that mistakes in airport towers are way up over the last few years, but the FAA says flying has never been safer.
    The Boston Globe reports that air traffic control errors were up 81 percent nationwide and 114 percent in Boston from 2007 to 2010.

    The FAA told the paper the rise is because of the way errors were calculated and categorized.
    Others say things like lack of proper training and inexperienced employees are to blame.
    The FAA says, based on fatalities on commercial flights, that three-year period was the safest on record.
    Congress has called for an investigation into the stats.
