Can you remove a person/people from a held reservation without affecting the price. Say if I put it on hold for 4 people but talk it over and turns out only 2 can go. I assume you can't change the names of the people, but can you have them removed?

  2. I have no idea, but this is a very interesting question. It should be allowed, morally.

I guess it rests on whether a held PNR can be split or modified. And it's less a moral issue than a technical one IMHO.

i have held reservations for 3 and then wanted to change how the seats were upgraded. when i call into the exp desk, they split it out to different pnr's, no problem. i have also held tickets in one name and been able to correct the name when i call in to book it. (if my kids friends are going, it gives me time to confirm their legal name opposed to a nickname.)
once it is booked is a different story.

Thanks for posting your experience. It is very helpful to have someone who has "been there, done that" post what happens so that the rest of us will know.

    thanks gemac.
what i don't know is if being an exp gives me more flexibility or not.

I doubt it - this certainly isn't a documented EXP benefit, which would lead one to believe it isn't available to others. I would surmise that it is a technical issue - do the computers allow it to be done, or not. If it can be done, AA has no real reason not to do it - refusal might lead to you not ticketing with them.

Yes, I had this done a few months ago. Shouldn't be an issue.

Splitting a PNR should never be a problem (2 keystrokes in Sabre). Just can't add people.
