Hotel Indigo in midtown Atlanta will be remodeled beginning in October. The rennovations should be completed by the end of 2011. The remodel will have a Fox Theatre music vibe. The hotels restaurrant Phi Bar was replaced by 683 Midtown Bar & Bistro on Sept. 2.

Also of note in the article, Atlanta's second Hotel Indigo will open in College Park, GA (south of downtown) in January 2012!

I thought Indigo was a new brand. Why the remodel so soon?

The Hotel Indigo in midtown Atlanta was the first property opened under the new flag. I think it was in late 2004, IIRC. The historic Fox Theater is directly across the street. I guess with some age on the property they decided to make the remodel a tie-in to an iconic Atlanta landmark.

One thing to remember is that they always want to try and have a flagship property for each brand in Atlanta because of the location of the American HQ. Therefore a 2004 opening is ancient for the only property of the brand in the city (the airport one will never be a flagship property once it opens)

Jeepers, yes! The building itself is old. I think I can remember eating there when it had a Wendy's on the ground floor. I just can't remember how long ago that might have been.
