I am shortly travelling to Russia.

I am thinking of registering my computer and cameras.

Does the border services agency still do this?

    Thanks.

Although it is now a practice seldom done, you can get one of those green cards (are they still green cards?) certifying the registry of such items. Just go to the customs office.

They do indeed still use the green card. I have a friend who works there and he confirms this fact.

Yes they do. I have a stack of them I carry with me for my photography equipment.

I just registered my electronic stuff. The CBSA staff were very helpful. :)

They mentioned that they don't do them often....but when I mentioned Russia, the chap said "Good move"

Having those 'green cards' for electronics is also very handy when one is flying into China from Canada, as the Chinese customs people seem to accept the cards as being evidence that one intends to carry the devices back to Canada again, rather than leaving them in China.
