Has anyone been having success getting first class upgrades on the newly redone regional jets with first class seats.
I got my first confirmed upgrade on one for this coming Tuesday from CLT- AVL.

Sorry, lousy typist. I've had a few between PHO & TUC and PHO & RNO. I've been upgraded each time on those routes, but never on the long haul from DCA to/from PHO. It's 1 + 2 seating, instead of 2+2, so 1/3 wider with a lot more leg room. Not bad, but I think the solo seats are best. I wouldn't pay for those seats, but they're a decent upgrade.

PHO??? I think you mean PHX. And I don't think US flied RJ's between DCA and PHX.

Yep, I meant PHX. And I didn't mean to imply they flew RJs between DCA/PHX, just mentioning I NEVER get an upgrade on that flight.

Oh...sorry for the mis-understanding. Yea, the only upgrades I don't clear as a Gold are usually the hub to hub flights (PHL-PHX, DCA-PHX, CLT-PHX)

Based on the math, here's how the first class seats break down on the RJ fleet, as a percentage of total seats on the plane:

    E175: 8F, 72Y = 10.00% of seats on the plane are F
    E170: 9F, 60Y = 13.04% of seats are F
    C900: 9F, 70Y = 11.39% of seats are F
    C700: 9F, 58Y = 13.43% of seats are F

Compared to the mainline fleet, it appears that getting an upgrade on any of the RJ's should be easier (with the exception of the E190, which compares favorably with the RJ fleet):

    A319: 12F, 112Y, 9.68% of seats are F
    A320: 12F, 138Y, 8.00% of seats are F
    A321: 16F, 167Y, 8.74% of seats are F
    E190: 11F, 88Y, 11.11% of seats are F

As a Chairman, I have been upgraded on every regional jet with First class since they were introduced.
