I haven't redeemed a whole lot of Hyatt points before and had some questions about the difference between Standard and Regency/Grand Club redemption levels.

If you are a Diamond member and you redeem for a standard award won't you still get Club access as part of your benefits?

For standard point stays, are you still "eligible" for an upgrade to the best available room/Regency floor as a Diamond member?

So why the separation? Just for a GUARANTEED Regency room? Is that correct?

Just for a guaranteed Club room. I would think this award is useful for those without Diamond status.

yes but if hotel is full you might not get an upgrade, this has happened to me. Each hotel did grant me access to the RC which is what I really cared about as we are rarely in the room on most trips.

I agree. I immediately thought the Club reward made more sense for Gold/Platinum members and doesn't seem to make sense for Diamond guests.
