Just noticed when looking to upgrade upcoming EWR-SFO flight on CO website that when wanting to use miles for upgrade, it no longer says "upgrade standby only" and now says "no front cabin available" with a check mark. If you go through the process, it will deduct the miles from your account. I assume it's just semantics and that you still move way up on the upgrade standby list?! Not very clear however. Of course, you can still automatically upgrade by paying big bucks. There are like 14 seats currently available in first, by the way. Been flying way too much economy lately and being a lowly Gold elite, imagine "complimentary" upgrade will be impossible on this route. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas? Thanks.

Chances of clearing on EUA are roughly nil. And, yes, I would assume you are still prioritized higher when redeeming. Don't count on that clearing either however.
