Does anyone have any knowledge/rumor/speculation when UA SWUs will be good on CO and vice versa?

I'm looking to book LAX-XXX-CDG this fall and IAD works better for me than ORD but this route is switching to CO before I'd fly.

Plenty of speculation (I actually thought it would happen tomorrow with the award chart sync) but nothing solid enough to plan on yet.

I heard the same as well but was told to expect them in July.

Well, July is still soon enough to help me.

Any idea if they'll be electronic SWUs confirmable at purchase or paper day of departure only.

  5. wow this would be amazing!

I don't have any insider knowledge at all, but I would expect that once they get up and running they will be confirmable at purchase since it's just another stage in integrating the two airlines. I'd also expect that it's already on a punch list somewhere and we're just waiting for them to get to it.

Now, whether you will be able to do the transaction online initially or will have to call is a different question. I'd generally expect to have to call until the web infrastructure catches up to the internal systems.

But the paper-SWU-at-the-gate thing is unique to the UA-LH arrangement and I doubt that the merged UA/CO would roll out anything other than full reciprocity when they roll it out at all.

Called the CO-Plat desk today to ask the same, they said not as of right now, but 'sometime' in the future. :(

I'm far more interested in reciprocal CR-1s, seeing as how I'm earning 12 on UA this year - are we (as a community) in agreement that it's a reasonable assumption that both SWUs and CR-1s will be made reciprocal at the same time?

  9. Oh cool I forgot CR1 would also be good :) on CO

I'd bet "yes" on that one.

  11. I guess we dont get UDU on CO flights to HNL so i better save a few CR1

IIRC, LAX/SFO flights to the islands on CO are UDU-able.

"Mid Year" is the answer CO likes to throw out there, only their definition is slightly different than ours.

Yeah, we're already entering late (fiscal year) 2011!

  16. what about NY ? I live in Toronto we go YYZ-ORD-HNL right now but it would be fun to try CO from EWR also CO is always cheaper.

The EWR-HNL or IAH-HNL flights are not currently EUA-able.

Okay the email referred to the summer for reciprocity on cert upgrades (at least domestic) and it is now two days into the summer (up here in the northern hemisphere).

And so long as the get to it in the next 12.5 weeks they'll have done it in the summer. ;)

Looking at the history books (i.e. last year's SWUs roll-out) suggests that it will happen when they're ready and not bound to any particular calendar event.

Given how many other elite-friendly changes have been introduced since the acquisition (none), I'd say we shouldn't be holding our collective breath.

I see a fair amount of elite friendly changes... the linking of accounts being foremost.

That was a given, they certainly aren't going to run two programs. So that's not a friendly change, that's a mandatory logistical change.

I've seen the NC inventory shrink from its already absurdly pre-merger levels to almost nothing. I've seen charges for some drinks in F introduced, pillows disappear, priority boarding for elites diluted, and the 777 upgrade program slowed even further. So tell me more about the elite friendly changes you see!

Yes and no. They didn't have to do it in the VERY friendly way which they chose.

Only one of these is really an "elite" change, and depending on what your elite status is it might not be so bad.

Wasn't the 777 upgrade program beginning to slow before the merger?
