AC 1162 on 1A with a taped up table tray. 1A and 1D today filthy as heck.

I mean, I really do enjoy flying on Air Canada but somethings are just not acceptable.

Not acceptable. I agree. Been going downhill for a long time.

Okay, here I go with the egregrious threadbumping again.

Most recent pair of longhaul flights were on a widebody with the new reverse-angled pods (the ones where the display screen is permanently mounted, and the table folds up and out from underneath).

Granted that these new pods are not yet worn-out, they do seem to be a lot more coffin-like. I found it hard to adjust to a comfortable position for curling up and reading (as I like to do). If I had my druthers, I suspect I'd still rather have the older, creakier, many-years-old pods.

    What say?

You mean the "DreamCabin" pods... The 777 pods are slightly wider than the Dreamliner pods, but yeah I kinda get what you mean. I still prefer them over the XM pods because the douchewad factor is almost completely removed by the DreamCabin pods.

The XM pods were a massive douchewad enabler, IMHO.

Agreed. I too like the new seats better. Built in screens and remote all work better as well. I can generally get close to 6/7 total hours of good sleep on YYZ/HKG flights as an example.
The so called coffin like foot area zone on those seats can be a little tight in certain relaxing positions as the table seems to interfere with freer movement in the seat.

Yeah the XM pods had the advantage of the open air space for the entire length. That is probably the one major advantage of I can think of over the DreamCabin pods and the coffin feel... But heck, it sure beats those former HD J sarcophaguses! I remember when boarding the HD I'd always quip "I'm in coffin 6D" when the FA inquired about where I was seated.

    Those seats were brutal.

So proud to say I've never flown them. :)
