Re-qualifying for Elite Status (US/DL/AA)

    When re-qualifying for status for an airline, is it calculated by the base mileage flown or does it include the elite bonus? Thanks!!

    Most likely does not include the bonus miles you get from elite status.

    I know for DL it is the base miles flown. Bonus miles are purely RDMs. Would be soooo nice if the bonus miles counted as QMs!

    Base mileage only, but that could be modified by the class of service bonus (or penalty). For example, you might get only 50% of the base mileage on some discount fares or 150% on some expensive fares, like F or J. This also is modified by the carrier. Flying a partner may not earn full mileage, for example.

    Different airlines handle this in different ways and it's not always easy to tell. Clear as mud now?
