Not enough credit given for inter-island flights.

    D.

Poor premium product and intl upgrades. No partner elite qualification. No partner benefits. Very small and overpriced lounge system. Worsened redemption after deval.

    C-

    Pros:
Can transfer miles fee-free if you have their credit card.
Economy awards are worth the price of admission.

    Cons:
Airport lounges are a joke. No alcohol, no food besides snack mix.
International upgrades are basically a better meal in a mildly better seat. Not worth it at all.
    Partner awards are extremely limited.
Can't earn EQM on partner airlines.
Can be quite hard to get 2 award seats in first/biz.

Friends are let into the lounge and take up all the seating with luggage. There should be some kind of control. Some money should be spent on decor.
    Need Partner airline redemption.
Miles are easy to get but hard to get a good redemption.
    Staff is quite pleasant.

I haven't used them much yet, although my upcoming frequent travel there is making me look at suitors for my business.

    I found the following:

    (+)
    -staff is generally pleasant
    -better Y product than competitors
    -fairly easy accrual
-good ground accrual opportunities on the islands
-a fair % of their fare sales blow competition out of the water

    (-)
    -awful redemptions, especially in F/J
-no F/J product that approaches average
    -lounges are, well, bad
    -no partner EQM
-upgrade certs are worth as much in the bin as in your hand.
-I found an air of "we are the only horse in town" in their operations - a kind of aloha-style of KLM's "it's not possible"

I will give HA every opportunity to win my business on this, but AS, KE, UA, and AA/US are certainly viable for me.
