I have a question regarding award travel and booking it through United.

I want to go from ORD-LJG (Lijiang, China) (ultimate destination), and thinking of flying ORD-ICN-CTU-LJG

I'm still deciding on a stopover, i.e. PVG, and maybe an open jaw somewhere, but I'm not sure the best way to calculate the MPM so I understand my limitations. Obviously there isn't a direct flight so what's the best way to calculate MPM. Do I use Great Circle Mapper and enter ORD-LJG? Or do I put in the layovers, i.e. ORD-ICN-CTU-LJG?

    Also:
We're only allowed 1 stopover; 2 open jaws right?
Is United's restriction 25%+ from the distance of the ultimate destination?

    Thanks everyone!

AFAIK there is no more MPM used at the new United so you're good to go as long as it does not backtrack (in some cases you can get away with a lot of stuff ;) ).

It is still 1 stopover and 2 open jaws.

Remember, if it's < 24 hrs, it doesn't count toward your stopovers.

So for my res, I had to call UA to book because .sux doesn't recognise LJG. I asked for a stopover in ICN and kept reminding her that my ultimate destination was LJG. But when she priced it out, she said ORD-ICN is 60K F and ICN-LJG was 20K (J and Y; required 1 layover).

I thought tix to Asia were 70K one way in F? Did I do/say something wrong to include the stopover? Did the rep price it out incorrectly?

More questions about the number of miles.
This is the route I'm thinking of:

    ORD-NRT (stopover)
    NRT-CTU-LJG (ultimate destination)
    LJG - CTU - BKK - FRA - ORD

Will this work for 140K roundtrip per person? 70K one way to Asia.
    Thanks!
