Barclays screwed us over by giving my wife the lower version of their Mastercard (10,000 bonus miles).....was hoping for the 35K...HOWEVER, there is still hope...to get a first class ticket to asia...

She currently has 28K SPG points ; plan is to transfer this to USAir Dividend Miles, but my question is...do they calculate the 75% BEFORE the SPG bonus of 5000 is given or AFTER? I ask because if I xfer to USAIR from SPG, I will get 33,000 miles....so do they calculate 75% of 33,000 as the bonus --or-- 75% of 28,000?

    Hope that makes sense.

Starwood gives you the bonus when you transfer. 28k would turn into 33k, which would be 1:1 to US Airways. Total would be 33k + 21k (75% bonus).

I may not be understanding this correctly, but I think your math is contradicting what you're saying. He will ultimately be transfering 33,000 miles to DM (28,000 plus 5,000 transfer bonus), and as a result will get a 75% bonus on 33,000 miles, so 24,750 miles. So his total miles will be 33,000 + 24,750 = 57,750.

See discussion in previous post as well, but it's my understanding that you would get the 75% on 33,000 miles, because the 5,000 point bonus happens before the miles are converted to Dividend Miles. So you have 28,000 miles, Starwood gives you another 5,000 which puts you at 33,000, and then you transfer 33,000 miles to DM, which would result in a 75% bonus on 33,000 miles.
