I received an email from Hyatt reminding me to requal and stating that you have to requal before 12/31. I thought the year ended 02/28?

My question is...if I have 15 stays this year before 12/31 and 10 more before 02/28, will that NOT requalify me? I thought you had until 02/28 to requal.

My understanding is you only have to 31 Dec to qualify, but your benefits run thru the end of Feb 2012.

Nope. You have to have 25 stays or 50 nights by 12/31. If you don't, your Diamond status will expire on 2/28.

I think status is extended through 2/28, but the period for earning is a calendar year.

Interesting...well, learn something every day. Did not know that. Ah well. Almost no chance of requalifying now.

10stays isn't bad at all to get. A little more then 1/week, plus in a week or so we should get wind of a new promo, that should help decide if you really want to run them stays.

Well, I need more than 10..I was simply...'illustrating' an example. :). I also have a few planned on vacations, but those are taking up the $ and time until the middle of December, and will leave me around 15 short.

I don't know where you are based, but check your local HP & SS properties. In DEN, for example, I've seen the local SS for as little at $49 on a Friday or Saturday night.

Should have read the T&C I guess. Quite obvious. Amazing what we can learn if we just read the rules I suppose. :)

Only 1 HP near me and it is never less than $80 + taxes. I envy the $49 rates, where I could earn Diamond again for a paltry $1300. I have spent quite a bit at Hyatt this year, but mostly on week-ish stays at higher end properties so I have spent a lot, but don't have that many stays to show for it.

Somewhere in there I'm sure it says exactly how many Lindt truffles it takes to bribe a FA into giving you that empty C seat on a mid-January TATL.

This is why I don't play the hotel game. Not a lot of options around Seattle. Now, if I lived back home in the Bay, I'd be fine, but not here.

The 3night/5kpoints ends Nov 15th, thats almost 2weeks away, I expect them to release something really quickly about the final Q4 early Q1 promo. mY guess is tomorrow the 1st they should announce.

Hyatt's requal period as opposed to status termination is basically the same as all other programs - airlines and hotels. Calendar year for requalification but two month "tag" at the end for the status - basically so people don't fall through the crack.

I have often wondered about doing this...not necessarily with truffles....unless they would work?

Well the 1st has come and gone, but I, too, expect wind of something for a December-February window. Would be great to have a BWB-style promo to get a head-start on 2013!!

I would love for there to be a promo that overlaps into next year but I'm not going to expect anything. If Hyatt has shown us anything this year, it's that they're perfectly willing and able to go promo-less for several months.

Yeah Hyatt had SEVERAL large gaps this year between promos...I personally had 25 nights this year and only 3 of them fell within ANY promo period.

I'm a freaking 12 stays from maintaining my beloved Hyatt Diamond status. I'm in ATL so there are a couple under $60 HPs I guess I will call home twice a week til end of year. Yep, Diamond has been incredible and I am completely spoiled. The suite upgrades in London and NY are out of this world.
