As someone who enjoys working with children [when given the chance i teach martial arts] I find this extremely upsetting and discriminatory. Without any shred of evidence this man was humiliated and made to seem like a pedophile. Whats worse is that it could happen to any of us.

    :(

I must say I am a bit surprised .. that it is surprising to some here:)
This policy exists for many (or most) US airlines and on most certainly on BA for quite a while now.

OK, I sort of get why they have this policy, even if I don't like it, but how do they protect children against female paedophiles?

    Really? News to me.

So... why aren't they use their newfangled technology called "computer" to place the unaccompanied female minor into an appropriate seat instead of embarrassing innocent male passengers onboard? Or do they and that's one of the reasons why one's seat assignment might "randomly" change and you can't get an explanation out of the reservations agents?

Not sure if you can put a relatively significant percentage of the unexplained seat changes down to this ... after all the
number of flights with unaccompanied minors cant be very high percentage-wise.

Note as is stated in the OPs link that BA confirms that policy applies to both male and female unaccompanied minors.

I wouldn't want to sit next to a young female ( that I didn't know) on any flight. Why put yourself in that position. Just my opinion.it's really too bad that our society has fallen to this level.
