Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker alleges that AA is now sabotaging proper passenger transfer within the alliance, and other hostile actions -- threatens to leave the alliance as a result. I think it's unfortunate that American picked their travelers to suffer most of the incovenience from this rivalry.

Well why doesn't he put his money where his (big) mouth lies and just leave or is he trying to rationalize what he now thinks was a bad decision on his part to enter the alliance.

I would rather him just run his big mouth, as it's not an inconvenience to travelers. ;) Having access to QR awards with AA miles is a good deal.

There's some truth to his comments about AA. He's likely bluffing about leaving the alliance though (just as he lied before joining).

QR is the only ME carrier that belongs to an alliance - I seriously doubt that they will have the courage to leave.

@nacho Royal Jordanian is also in OneWorld, Egypt Air is in Star Alliance, and Middle East Airlines and Saudi are in Skyteam. Though, given a choice, Qatar Airways or Middle East Air would be my only choices for traveling on an ME carrier within these alliances.

True - RJ and MEA are also a ME carrier (when I think about ME carriers I always think about the big 3 - QR, EK and EY), so are GF, Kuwait Airways. Now that TK is going to fly to Australia next year it will definitely post some more threats to the big 3 ME carriers.
