Every 787 is at the moment on "watch".

It is difficult to separate "teething problems" from system design flaws. Add to the mix, the 787 being under the microscope and it is getting difficult to understand what is a true problem from sensationalism.

At the moment people / passengers who are interested in airplanes are a little "jittery" about the 787 and follow every little bit in the news, be it a real problem or not. It's understandable on the one side, but on the other it's important to learn more about the dynamics and workings of just how complicated a new generation plane can be, having said this, in the meantime people want to fly, demand worldwide is on the rise, and so they choose the 787 or not, this depends now on how people feel about the plane, on how the plane is presented in the press, that's another layer to the mystery in this puzzle.

As many said earlier, it's important that people get real insights into the workings of the 787 and this also means that the press who "looks very closely right now" into anything related to the 787, especially the problems, every little problem that is will be "under the microscope" and future passengers want to hear about positive experiences with the plane too, this will decide which plane to fly and which to avoid for now. The press has a lot with this to do.
