QF's 9th A380, Reginald Ansett (VH-OQH), was finally delivered to QF last week after having been overtaken by her supposedly-younger sister VH-OQI, and entered service on Saturday 5 February operating QF31.

I heard rumours that QF was going to assemble a crew for that flight which was composed entirely of ex-Ansett staff. Does anyone know whether that actually happened? It would have been a lovely gesture.

Globaliser you have chosen a really bad topic heading, I wonder what the report button does[IMG].

I agree, the heading is really misleading...

As I’d already heard the news I understood what it was referring too, but I think it’s a catchy title, though I’m glad there was an explanation on why it was 9th as I thought 'H' was the 8th letter of the alphabet :D

The same with me - I knew all of that some weeks before. I was actually the one who was posting departures from TLS and SIN on FT and was listening to ATC when it arrived. I have generally problem with posters using catchy titles, although sometimes they do it as a honest mistake. That leads me to a question. Will we be able to change titles of the threads if we for example misspell them?

Are these new ones still 4-class or just 3 (with no F) now?

Can I use my golden wing card to access the lounge when flying on this plane? It hasn't had much use lately. [IMG]

I believe 4-class, there’s still a few more of them to go before the switch to 3-class.

There are ex-AN staff working at QF and they can tell who they are? Even more, it is possible to find a full crew complement of such people?

    Wow.

Can you imagine the captain? It'd be like, "I thought I'd never pilot another Ansett again..."

Oh wow I found my AN GW card in the house cleanup when I moved recently. So sad (I only joined 6 months before they went under, after I dropped back to GW Nothing from Gold).

    Oh well:)

Globaliser - have you ever considered writing headlines for tabloids?

Just kidding; but this thread contained nothing like I thought it would!

    Thank you!

It was also an attempt to introduce a bit of humour when there were only about four threads on the QF board. The preview when you hover over the thread title in the listing actually shows you the substance of the post anyway.

I expected some groans, but not to cause offence. So I apologise to those who have been offended. I'm now glad that I didn't use my first headline attempt, which had been “Qantas finally acquires Ansett”.

That would be worse than all the other 'enhancements' combined. [IMG]

  20. I don't know if such a flight took place but there are indeed quite a few ex-AN staff, both in cabin and flight deck.

I bet the 388 cost QF significantly more than the AUD$1 price they were offered (and declined) for Ansett back in 2001.

Also agree, was reading the post title and wondering just what the hell he was on about.

Mind you, quite a fitting tribute that QF would honour one of the late greats of Australia's aviation fraternity naming such a milestone aircraft after the man.

Shame they don't put nice biblographic information in-cabin about the people whom each aircraft are named about, would be a nice touch.

Hi all. I was a Qantas A380 Onboard Manager from the delivery of OQA (Nancy-Bird Walton) from Toulouse to Singapore and after spending 14 years at Ansett Domestic and International I was a small part of the OQH delivery.

Qantas Cabin Crew Management did in fact graciously allow any ex Ansett crew on the A380 fleet to operate OQH's first flight which was QF31 SYD-SIN. Out of the 22 cabin crew approximately 18 including the two Onboard Managers were all ex Ansett people.

I was part of a trio that wrote a book on OQH that was published in 2010. It is a non for profit book and simply designed to be ordered as a collectors item. It's not an inexpensive book yet is large and a beautiful addition to any Ansett collection. If you just want to view it online the link is below.

It was a 14 month labor of love.

    Just google 'Ansett Blurb'

    Warm regards,

    Michael Jones
