Qantas Airways Ltd. (QAN), Australia’s largest carrier, said bookings for trips to Europe have gone up six-fold as its first flight in partnership with Emirates Airline took off yesterday. To read the entire article, go to http://bloom.bg/14wUCbr

Given the number of Qantas operated flights to Europe actually reduces, the stat appears to be meaningless. Certainly QF flights haven't gone from sub-16% loads to near 100% loads.

Either they are measuring bookings made an arbitrary number of days in advance, or including all the new codeshares on EK (for which QF will be paying EK a portion of the fare) or it is an apples and oranges comparison.

I'm equally sceptical. This headline was trailed a few weeks back, at which time I thought it was odd - the alliance hadn't even received definitive approval at that stage. I still suspect marketing spin/smoke and mirrors.
